I am interested in the small parts that make up an elaborate design. My eyes fall to the details of material and texture while studying how they correlate and compliment each other.
I am a gatherer of information, so when I design I look at the wide variety of time periods, colors, textures, cultures, you name it for inspiration. I find a design to be most intriguing when there is harmony between two contrasting areas of design.
I have always felt that the constantly changing environment around us can be an endless resource for bringing unique components to design. I incorporate small details in my work to show meaningful and purposeful craft. I design with the intent that each creation is more than a trend, but something to invest in, as everything designed in this world should have a purpose.
I grew up in Boulder, Colorado where I was immersed in the outdoors. At a young age I began to be very fascinated with raw materials. I built barbie houses in pine trees where the carpets were moss and made sail boats out of chopped logs. I loved transforming found materials into items I could use.
